What Happened in 2020 – Year in Review

I was going through my Facebook timeline feed in late December 2020 when a post by Syed Balkhi caught my attention. It was an article about Syed Balkhi’s 2020 year in review where he document about some of the important things that had happened in that year.

It seems really cool to have something to look back to in the future to see how far you’ve gone, so I thought I’d document a short year in review of mine too 😉

Year in Review

While this article will not be much more detailed, I will try as much as possible to cover some basic important ones.

You can read the section >> PERSONAL >> PROFESSIONAL >> LESSONS >> FUTURE

Personal Highlights

At the beginning of the year, I decided to focus more on the things that do really matter – People, Faith, and Inner peace and I think, my biggest personal achievement is being able to recognize the gift of this Interpersonal relationship ever more than before.

Professional Highlights

>> I currently run two web projects which are NetSocialBlog (a tech and social media blog) and FutaNewsandGist (an educational blog).

TuhamWorld CC Web Design and Consultancy

For the Tech blog, Despite that am unable to publish more articles unlike the past years, the blog was still able to have some interesting internal growth and one of the articles I really didn’t expect did somehow generates a lot of positive feedback from the audience.

>> The educational web blog also later turned out to be from a fun project to an amazing resource for students (Aspirants, Undergraduates, and Graduates). We (I and the FNG team) were also able to build a community around it and also started the first-ever seminar series.

>> Every year since 2018, I also try to participate in the WordPress do_action hackathon where a team of developers, designers, content writers, social media managers, Accessibility consultants come together to use WordPress for Good and build sites for Non-profit organizations.
Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the WordPress do_action hackathon event was held virtually in the year 2020. (See my past participation 2018, 2019, 2020).

>> After learning and working solo for a long time, I was able to discover an amazing community for Web Creators and it finally felt so good to meet interesting people from different parts of the world who understand what you do, have each other’s back, and also share great resources with one another.

>> Took up courses and read on Web Conversion, WordPress Website Maintenance, Designing for the Web ethics, and some other courses – which help me to deal with processes relating to work.

>> While there are other highlights, the one I wouldn’t forget to mention is being able to Join the team Support for an amazing SEO plugin for WordPress towards the end of the year.
Being on the Tech Support team means – being in a position where I can provide solutions easily with the help of/alongside other team members.

Lessons Learned – Year in Review

You MATTER
The first lesson is to always remember yourself without being Selfish. You can’t save the world if you can’t save yourself – most especially when it comes to your health.

You Need a TEAM
There are some things that you can’t just do alone. By bringing the FNG team to the COMING TO FUTA Seminar for the educational blog, we were not only able to save time, but also able to make impacts more easily.

People

“The most important thing in life will always be the people in this room, right here, right now (Family and Friends)

– Vin Diesel (Fast and Furious)

The Future

>> Work more as either an Individual or as a Team to make the world a better place in alignment with my values and skills – as seen in the Mission. Am more open to WordPress products and projects though.

>> Innovate existing web projects to yield more impact. NetSocialBlog has been around for a while and hopes to add some spice to it as well as the FNG project.

>> Lots of Travelling

>> Share Online Presence tips for Business owners via IG Handle – It’s something I’ve actually been putting off for a while

>> Website Training for existing clients. WordPress is a very wide amazing tool and I found out a lot of website owners find some parts confusing. This is why I’d hope to come in by providing Website Training for a certain amount of time to the WordPress Care Plans clients.

>> Giving back by improving on contribution to the WP Support Forum as well as some other highlighted platform.
