Lessons and Highlights from Lagos WordPress Meetup July 2025

The Lagos WordPress Meetup in July 2025 took place at the Wema Bank Purple Academy, with the discussion centered on WordPress Jobs, hiring, and networking. Below are some of the notable lessons and personal highlights from the Meetup.

Lagos WordPress July 2025 Arrival

There were introductions of attendees, especially what we are all using WordPress for (e.g, developers, designers, content creators, project managers, etc.).
Attendees also shared how they were getting WordPress projects, such as through referrals, posting on social media, building WordPress resources such as themes and plugins, etc.

Ayoola Daniel (Guest Speaker) nailed the topic of the event: The WordPress Hustle: How to Find Jobs, Position Your Skills, and Get Hired.

On Finding the Right Opportunities

On Positioning Your Skills for Maximum Impact

  • Building a portfolio that showcases your WordPress capabilities
  • Writing resumes and LinkedIn profiles that get noticed by recruiters (e.g, profile summary, profile bio)
  • Publishing your work and projects on social media (especially LinkedIn and Twitter)

Highlights from Lagos WordPress 2025 Meetup

Before sharing the highlights, I have to mention that the first Lagos WordPress meetup I ever attended was the Lagos Hackathon event in 2018.

So when I heard about the upcoming meetup, I knew it was another chance to hear fresh perspectives about other people’s approach to using WordPress.

Below are some notable highlights from the Lagos WordPress Meetup July 2025:

  • Met with Adeleye Ayodeji of Ade Custom Shipping, who suggested a better shipping solution for an eCommerce website (one I could use for this case study)
  • ALATPay Payment Solution to accept local and international payments via Cards, Bank Transfer, Bank Details, and even via phone number.
  • Met Seun Taylor (Though I still think he resembles Tunbosun Ayinla 😀)
  • Met Samuel, who has launched WordPress themes on both Template Monster and Themeforest
  • Light refreshments (what’s an event without a sumptuous meal 😀 )

Final Takeaways

Whilst I have been opportuned to use several approaches (no-code, low-code, and full code) to build websites, WordPress remains my favorite due to the large community and valuable resources available to extend the software.

Here is me hoping and looking forward to more meetups and more growth in the WordPress ecosystem.

Until next time,
Best Regards
